CloudSigma in partnership with IPC launches new Manila cloud location for the Philippines

Zürich, SwitzerlandJuly, 2016 – CloudSigma, a Swiss hybrid cloud service provider in partnership with IPC, the leading data center provider in the Philippines, today announced the launch of a native Manila cloud location together.

The hunger for cloud-based infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region is growing at a fast pace. Companies nowadays want to build a secured, automated and redundant environment. Having recognized this potential and being able to fulfill the mentioned requirements, back in March 2016 CloudSigma launched its first Asian cloud in the facility of IPC in Manila, the Philippines. IPC operates multiple points of presence from local and international telecommunications providers and carriers.  Besides, it operates three data centers within the Metro Manila area. As a result, all CloudSigma customers benefit from a low-latency highly secure platform all operated under the jurisdiction of the Philippines for local data compliance.

Key Value-Added Services

CloudSigma’s unique partnership model allows best of breed value-added services to be deployed across all its cloud locations. For example, the innovative Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service (DRaaS) offering is of particular interest to companies operating in the Philippines where natural events from typhoons to earthquakes and volcanoes can put a strain on local infrastructure and cause outages.

Through IPC’s fibre network that meshes with our new Manila cloud location, companies can deploy a DRaaS solution. The solution provides secure data syncing from on-premise to the cloud over dedicated and cost-effective private IP. Further, a seamless transition to the cloud for disaster recovery purposes provides an ideal business continuity solution in the case of disaster plus an ability to easily sync back data to in-house infrastructure afterwards.

Using the cloud as part of a disaster recovery plan versus traditional physical infrastructure allows you to avoid the capital expenditure needed to maintain redundant infrastructure. Instead, you are relying on on-demand compute resources from the cloud. Thus, this reduces the cost of comprehensive disaster recovery solutions to a fraction of their former cost. Besides, it allows many more infrastructure coverage by such a solution including desktops and other assets previously uneconomic to include in a disaster recovery plan.

The service’s pricing is based on a simple per GB basis in a utility style. It provides complete cost transparency and predictability. Compared to traditional solutions that require complex set-ups and custom implementations, CloudSigma has been able to bring to market a comprehensive disaster recovery solution. More than that, the solution is set at a disruptively low price. We have done so by using technology to automate many of these tasks. Further, we expose them in a self-configuration way to users via the main CloudSigma webapp.

The solution provides the ability to sync not only from onsite premises and data centers but also between all existing and future CloudSigma locations. This is particularly relevant to enterprise customers who are running many deployments in different locations. In this way they can utilize the full potential of the CloudSigma service by connecting collocation with cloud and running synced backup services.  They can also transfer some of their services from a traditional on-premise environment to the cloud.

Integrated Infrastructure: Co-location, Networking & Cloud

An integrated part of CloudSigma’s cloud service offering is its hybrid cloud abilities. Through a cross-connect within the data center or a point to point layer 2 line, customers in Manila can seamlessly connect to CloudSigma’s cloud using private IP only. Thus, they can benefit from low latency dedicated connectivity which is ideal for servicing critical IT workloads.

Moreover, by combining the advantages provided by the cloud platform with strong networking and disaster recovery capabilities, all Asia-Pacific customers can easily combine Manila located-cloud-delivered storage and compute environments in conjunction with their existing infrastructure.

A Unique Partnership

Unlike other cloud providers, CloudSigma’s unique collaboration with IPC enables us to craft custom end to end solutions for customers. Furthermore, we offer a uniquely competitive price through a single billing relationship for hosting, cloud and networking connectivity.
