International Cloud Computing Awards Celebrate Excellence in the Field of Cloud Computing
Palo Alto, California – December 13, 2011 CloudSigma has been shortlisted in the inaugural 2012 Cloud Awards Program in the category of Best Cloud Infrastructure.
The Cloud Awards recognize and celebrate industry leaders and pioneers in the field of cloud computing. Categories include B2B Customer Strategy, Best Cloud Infrastructure, Data Innovation of the Year, Developer of the Year, Most Promising Start-Up, Best Platform as a Service, Security Innovation, Best Software as a Service and Web Services Excellence.
With a solution like CloudSigma’s SSD storage, however, companies have the ability to create a tiered storage system by staging critical application data and files on SSD, which effectively gets rid of the CPU wait time. This multi drive-to-server model significantly improves system performance, as eliminating CPU wait time results in better resource utilization and cost performance. Additionally, since SSD storage doesn’t have physical moving parts like magnetic storage solutions, it can handle the more random nature of I/O loads in public cloud environments, while sustaining a higher level of performance and without slowing down. This allows for significantly higher I/O bandwidth with lower, more stable data access latencies. To support today’s higher bandwidth and lower latency requirements, CloudSigma has already upgraded its cloud to 10GigE networking.
The cloud computing awards program is open internationally across the US and EMEA regions and accepts entries from organizations of any size.
Cloud Awards organizer Larry Johnson said, “We have seen a remarkable caliber of organizations enter the program and the Cloud Awards team is truly honored to judge them.
“Cloud computing has faced off many detractors. Some commentators have expressed concerns over security, scalability, and reliability. Now that we’re seeing consumer advertisements name-dropping ‘The Cloud,’ we know it’s here to stay. But, beyond the hype and buzz, what does cloud computing have to offer?
“The organizations that have taken part in the 2012 Cloud Awards program demonstrate exactly what cloud computing has to give. We’ve seen world-leading organizations spring up literally overnight to offer faster, more capable and cost-effective solutions than previously imagined. We’ve seen markets become so disrupted they’re unrecognizable. And we’ve seen all of this when the cloud computing industry is still in its infancy. We can’t wait to see what we get in our in-trays in 2012 and 2013, let alone 2025.”
Patrick Baillie, CloudSigma co-founder and CEO said, “We are honored to have been shortlisted in the Best Cloud Infrastructure category for the 2012 Cloud Awards. As cloud computing continues to advance and adoption escalates, more and more companies are recognizing the benefits of our uniquely flexible and customer-centric approach. Unlike traditional infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) providers, we remove restrictions on deployments and resource provisioning, giving customers the ability to shape their public cloud deployment in a way that is best suited to their organization. With this approach, we are effectively removing barriers to cloud adoption and the recognition from the Cloud Awards reinforces the importance of establishing such a customizable platform.”
Final winners will be announced on Tuesday, January 10, 2012.
