CloudSigma Launches First SLA-Backed Distributed SSD Storage Solution in Public Cloud IaaS

CloudSigma’s Distributed SSD Storage Solution, SigSTORE, Achieves Unprecedented Cloud-Based Storage Performance, Availability and Reliability, Fostering Further Cloud Adoption

Interop Las Vegas - May 8, 2012

CloudSigma, the only international, customer-centric, pure-cloud Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provider, today announced SigSTORE, the industry’s first SLA-backed distributed SSD storage solution, for its public cloud IaaS offering at Interop Las Vegas. SigSTORE effectively eliminates growing storage bottlenecks and variable performance in the cloud, while achieving seamless delivery and unprecedented cost efficiency.

“The performance, cost and reliability of cloud storage solutions have historically been major barriers to companies’ cloud adoption,” says Robert Jenkins, CloudSigma CTO. “With SigSTORE, we are removing these concerns and enabling companies to realize the flexibility, scalability and cost-savings benefits of a public cloud environment while ensuring the performance and reliability of the storage for their critical systems and applications. No one else in the public cloud space is offering a distributed SSD storage solution like this, let alone with an associated performance and availability SLA. It is a truly innovative product that will increase the rate of cloud adoption among enterprises.”

SigSTORE is uniquely sold as a utility service, unbundled from other resources, including RAM and CPU, so companies can purchase gigabytes and IOPS in terms of minimum performance levels, without issues of over- or under-provisioning. With up to 2 terabytes of space on each SSD drive and the ability to set minimum guaranteed IOPS on an individual, drive by drive basis, companies using CloudSigma’s IaaS platform can ensure they have the flexible storage resources for any business scenario or critical application, at a cost that doesn’t break the bank.

Traditional, magnetic-based storage systems are not suited for the randomized, multi-tenant access of a public cloud and simply cannot keep up with such requirements, thereby causing massive performance bottlenecks. SigSTORE successfully resolves these issues with its high-performance capabilities and unprecedented availability and reliability. It’s priced at less than half the cost of traditional magnetic-based storage solutions. Guaranteed by the industry’s first cloud-based storage SLA, CloudSigma is delivering the innovation the cloud storage market needs to increase adoption and alleviate cloud storage concerns of performance and cost.

“CloudSigma is clearly leading the cloud storage field by making Solid State Disk storage available as part of their Infrastructure-as-a-Service platform,” says Tim Lloyd, CensorNet Managing Director. “For CensorNet, this means that it is now viable to deploy disk I/O intensive applications in the cloud, which ultimately means a better service to our customers and greater scalability for the future. CloudSigma's innovation in this field will undoubtedly propel other companies' to adopt the cloud, increase storage and continue to receive performance on par with bare metal. We are excited to be an early adopter of this new service.”

CloudSigma will be showcasing SigSTORE at Interop Las Vegas at booth #1005. If you are a member of the media or analyst community and are interested in setting up a meeting, please contact Meredith L. Eaton via email cloudsigma@marchpr.com or phone +1 617-960-9877.

 Higher Utilisation
Most computers run at low load/utilisation rates most of the time. We get more computing done out of the same capacity.

 Efficient equipment
Efficient equipment can reduce environment impact (principally electricity consumption) by up to 40%.

 Clean Electricity
High connectivity reduces the importance of location. Choosing a location with a greener electricity grid is the single biggest factor in reducing the environment impact of computing.
